SLIPKNOT CONNECTIONS TO OTHER BIG NAME BANDS
By Gary Wright

Ministry, Motograter, Mushroomhead and The Berzerker, all have connections/links/ties back to Slipknot... no matter how small or seemingly disconnected...

Slipknot/Ministry

Joey Jordison performed drums on Ministry's tour called 'MasterBaTour 2006', he was also said to appear in the music video for their single 'LiesLiesLies'.

Sin Quirin performed guitars and bass at different times in Ministry between 2007-2008, 2011-2013, 2014-present. Sin was also a guitarist in American Head Charge from 2011-2012, and has also been in the band 'Society 1', which at one point had Dope's Preston Nash as drummer.

Slipknot/Motograter

Des Moines' band Dead Horse Trauma had Michael 'Angel' Woodruff (Motograter lead vocalist 2008-2011 and 2014) appear on their track 'Coercion', that appears on the album 'VI-Ops' (2013).

Denny Harvey (ex-Stone Sour) was briefly involved with Dead Horse Trauma in a kind of advice role.

Slipknot/Mushroomhead

Rick 'ST1TCH' Thomas (turntables/samples/programming in Mushroomhead) was part of a legendary show that included Tenafly Viper, Nothing, St1tcH & Sid Wilson (#0 of Slipknot) at Peabodys in Cleveland, Ohio on April 17th 2012.

Sid Wilson was joined on stage by two members of Mushroomhead, June 9th 2012, during Sid's DJ set at G.B. Leighton's Pickle Park in Fridley, Minnesota. As Sid's set started with him alone behind his turntable kit, two members of Mushroomhead rushed onto the stage to play their 'water drum' kits during the first song. Both Mushroomhead and Sid Wilson were booked on the same bill for this one night only.

In September 2012, Mushroomhead announced that they were currently in the studio working on new music via their Facebook fan page. It was said by Mushroomhead frontman Jeffrey Nothing that former Slipknot and current Painface vocalist Anders Colsefni is in the works to do a recording together in their upcoming studio sessions. The band entered their own Filthy Hands Studio in December 2012 to begin writing and recording their next studio album. That album was 'The Righteous & The Butterfly' (2014), but Anders did not appear on it and nothing more has ever been mentioned of him appearing on it.

Daniel Fox (Lil' Dan), former percussionist for the band Mushroomhead and drummer for Ventana, is also a former touring drummer for Dope.

Slipknot/The Berzerker

The Berzerker began as a mid 1990's one-man speedcore DJ act signed to the Lenny-Dee label Industrial Strength. Originally, the project was to be a death metal supergroup with contributions by David Vincent, Kevin Sharpe, Dan Lilker, Jed Simons, and production by Devin Townsend at his studio in Vancouver.

Dan Lilker is the bassist for the thrash metal band Nuclear Assault and was a founding member of Anthrax with Scott Ian. He also founded crossover band Stormtroopers Of Death with Scott Ian and Charlie Benante (from Anthrax), and Billy Milano (Anthrax roadie, M.O.D. singer). At one time Joey Jordison was involved in a grindcore project with Dan Lilker.

Jed Simon is currently a member of supergroup Scar The Martyr and has been a member of numerous metal bands, including Front Line Assembly, Strapping Young Lad, Zimmers Hole, and TENET. Scar The Martyr was founded by Slipknot's Joey Jordison.
